The Keystone State Games, Inc. (KSG, Inc.) is a non-profit organization with the primary function of staging the Keystone State Summer Games, Pennsylvania Senior Games, Winter Tournaments, and other sporting events. The mission of the KSG, Inc. is to promote physical fitness and sports activity as a health improvement and disease prevention strategy for all Pennsylvanians and to create an expanded, coordinated and citizen-sponsored program of physical fitness and amateur athletic competition. Games events are held across Pennsylvania and attract over 10,000 athletes in 42 different sports annually.

Keystone State Games, Inc. Mission
The mission of the Keystone State Games is to promote physical fitness and sports activity as a health improvement and disease prevention strategy for all Pennsylvanians and to create an expanded, coordinated and citizen-sponsored program of physical fitness and amateur athletic competition.
Purpose:
Provide a comprehensive, coordinated and citizens supported program of sports and fitness competitions to promote physical fitness in which all Pennsylvanians can participate for the purposes of personal growth and development, and the enhancement of physical and mental health.
Provide a mechanism and medium through which Pennsylvania’s sport bodies can stimulate physical fitness and sports involvement for everyone.
Encourage government, schools, businesses, industry, foundations, and individuals to support expansion of physical fitness and sports participation as a disease prevention strategy in an effort for personal wellness.
Provide a statewide, multi-sport program with an Olympic format, to encourage and assist in preparing Pennsylvania’s athletes to enter national and international competitions.
History of the Keystone State Games:
The Keystone State Games are a result of a resolution by Representative Joseph R. Pitts (Chester County) and approved by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 1980. Keystone State Games Inc., a nonprofit corporation, was formed in 1983 with the help of former Governor Richard Thornburgh so the Games would not be solely dependent on government funding. Since its inception, Keystone State Games, Inc. has attracted over 350,000 participants of various age groups into their events

Internship Dates:
The Keystone State Games offers 8 - 10 week internships. Most internships begin in late May and conclude in late July or early August. There is some flexibility with start dates to accommodate the end of the school year and graduations. Other opportunities may also be available on an as-needed basis for students to intern during the academic year.
Compensation:
All first year interns will receive a stipend of $100.00 per week.
Intern Qualifications:
The Keystone State Games provide an ideal environment for candidates who are interested in pursuing a career in sports management, financial management, marketing, and media and public relations. We are interested in candidates who are highly motivated, resourceful, creative, and willing to work the odd/long hours that are required in event management. Some positions may require experience or an interest in a specific area including tournament operations, finance, marketing, public relations, etc. It is recommended but not required that interns be Pennsylvania residents, as we do not provide housing.
Internship Position Summary:
The Keystone State Games, Inc. will hire interns to work on the 2013 Summer Games. These internships concentrate on several different areas of sports management. Interns will work 8 to 10 weeks, including the week of the KSG Summer Games that will take place end of July - beginning of August, 2013. Listed below are the various categories that we are seeking to fill:
Financial Management: (paid position - 1 needed)
- Oversee collection, processing, accounting and tracking of all team and individual sports fees as well as other Summer Games related income.
- Oversee payables and receivables and other finance related duties.
- Assist with identification, solicitation and fulfillment of in kind sponsors.
Operations(paid position - 5 needed)
- Serve as a site director at Finals. Assist with event set up & break down.
- Assist with needs assessment and appropriation of sports venues, equipment and staff.
- Assist with coordination of coaches and officials.
- Coordinate all event rules, tiebreakers and other sports event information.
Media & Publications (paid position - 2 needed)
- Assist with design and production of promotional materials.
- Prepare game information before, during, after events including press kits and results.
- Assist with running the press center during all finals competitions.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
All interns will be responsible for assisting with general office related duties including data entry, mailings, and preparation of press kits, preparation of finalist rosters, and other general duties.
Congratulations to all of the athletes that have qualified to participate in the 2013 National Senior Games in Cleveland, Ohio. The Annual Pennsylvania Senior Games will not be conducted during the summer of 2013 because of the National Senior Games taking place so close to our State. The 2014 Pennsylvania Senior Games will be hosted once again in the Greater Harrisburg / Hershey Area during the summer of 2014. Information and Registration for the 2014 Games will be available Spring 2014.
The Keystone State Games are hosting the 2013 State Games of America National Championship on July 31 - August 31, 2013 in the Greater Harrisburg / Hershey Area and many events have masters and seniors divisions. All athletes that participated in the 2012 PA Senior Games are eligible to participate this year at the State Games of America.
